My first Birthday!
After recuperating from the birth trauma my goal was to be able
to move around freely by myself.
From the beginning on I never liked to lie down or be in one place for too long.
I always made sure that somebody was carrying me around so I could check on
everybody and everything….. having a property is a big responsibility you know!!
I accompliced this goal just a month before my first birthday when I mastered
the art of Walking!! I am so happy that I decide where I want to go now and how
fast I am moving!! It is Great such freedom!
I am also trying to make everybody around me understand my language. I must say
that is quite an effort.
A lot of times I really have to put more emphasis on my words by screaming or
crying or pointing since nobody seems to understand what I want. Then most of
the time somebody will pick it up (finally!) and do what I have been telling for
a long time. I do have a bit of a short temper, you know….
On the 23rth of November my mum said it was a very special day. I wondered what
she was talking about but it became a bit clearer when she took me out early
morning to go for a walk on the property. What a surprise that there were all
colorful garlands and balloons hanging everywhere!! All my big brothers wished
me a “happy birthday”, and then I understood that it must have been a year
already since I did my first cry of this life time! Wauw! Time flies when you’re
having fun!!
My big brothers worked all night to give the garden a wonderful colorful look
and me and my mom enjoyed it very much! My dad give me an extra slobby kiss that
morning when he woke up and gave me a “big girl dress”.
Slotsna made some extra effort for my make up this morning. She made the string
of flowers for in my hair and that made me really look like a one year old!! No
more baby cloths for me, I am a big girl now and I do not stop telling everybody
that!!
During the day people stopped by and ate the sweets daddy bought and I got lots
of new dresses from my brothers and their friends. Mom told me that they did
some extra work to save money to buy me birthday presents!!
In the afternoon we went into the village and gave all the 80 children in the
local school a new school uniform and some sweets! That was the first time I
entered a school.
The next day many, many children came to have a good time here.
It was a bit overwhelming for me, and I went around doing my own thing, leaving
the entertainment to my mom, dad and brothers and aunty Nageshwari.
This day was the celebration of me and my moms’ birthday so it was extra, extra
special. Also because last year both of us were in the hospital and we did not
have a celebration at all.
After a long day of games, sweets, food and prices all the children went back to
the village with lots of stories to tell to their parents.
This day was also a special day for Kartikea so even though all of us were
exhausted we first lighted the little ghee lamps for Kartikea before we went to
bed……. Goodnight!
