Almost a year after being washed away by the Tsunami in Sri Lanka I am again
haunted by water…
In the night of 23 to 24 of November, due to more heavy rainfall at that time,
two dams in the surrounding area broke and all the water came into our land, which is a bit lower
than the surrounding area.
We had to evacuate the cows in the middle of the night from the cowshed to the
temple, since the temple is the highest building on our land.
During this episode, Isabella gave birth to a male calf, Krishna. It was a real
water delivery, since he fell straight into the rainwater from his mothers’
womb.
We had to rush him into the kitchen rubbing him dry very thoroughly for a long
time.
His first milk he ever drank was not his mothers’ milk but the milk I put on my
fingers he was sucking on.
By daytime, we could see the damage that was done; the whole garden was a big
swimming pool where the children were floating and swimming having a good time.
Later that day the 3 man who opened the other dam that would release the water
from our land were washed away and lost for a couple of hours, fortunately they
survived and returned to their families, people here do not really know how to
swim..
All the ducks were swimming in the chicken coupe and except one chicken all the
others survived by reaching higher places.
Killankulam was not that badly affected, since it lies a bit higher, only a
couple of houses were damaged.
Our car was half in the water we were very happy that our reliable four-wheeler
started right away again.
The most important thing was that except from lack of sleep, some scratches and
bruises we were al fine!
The five boys did a great job and now it is for us to wait when the water goes
down and the rain stops so that the sun can bless us again
All the little farmers here have to wait and see how much of the crops will
survive this water.
It can turn out to be a big loss, depending on how fast the water retreats and
how long it will continue to rain.
Floods and big rains have haunted Tamil Nadu for the last 3 weeks now.
Mainly in the coastal areas, people have lost their livelihoods and have been
evacuated to places inland where they can only sit and wait in the refugee camps
until the rain stops.
Many crops are lost, people died in the floods and whole villages were washed
away.
We are very lucky and grateful that this misery did not hit us.
What did happen here made us realize how easy things can be taken away from you
by nature’s force.
How little we are in this whole creation and how arrogant we are in thinking we
are creating something.
We only create by the grace of nature; when she disagrees, there is nothing we
can do about it.
We only live by the grace of the power behind creation of the balance that is
been hold by powers that go beyond our comprehension and knowledge.
When we surrender to that and loose our ignorance and arrogance of thinking that
we can make a difference in this play of almighty powers then maybe we will see
our true selves; being only a split second in time and space.
Then maybe we also realize and recognizing that what we do and are that all our
worldly needs, wants, pains and aches are nothing in the immense vastness of
time and space.
Yet, we are an important part of it since we are created from it.
The vastness and the powers are all dormant within us as well, our main goal
should be to reconnect with those again and so reconnect with all since
everybody has the same source.
The universe is around us and guides us, yet the universe is also within us and
needs to reconnect with the universe outside us to live a harmonious life.
It is not important how big a thing you can manifest on this earth, what you can
build or create since at the end it is not you alone, it is every body and
everything that helped you and allowed you to create.
The most important thing is how you can create within yourself a space of love
and unity for and with all, only then you live feel and realize that you are not
only ”you” but that you are connected with every thing in this universe.
If that really hits you, you will never speak bad, be angry or kill for your own
pleasures again and if you do you will be aware of the fact that you lie to
yourself, be angry with yourself and kill a piece of yourself.
